Sixty to seventy years ago, our village was a beautiful, small place with mountains and clean spring water. There was farmland for growing rice and everywhere the harvest was plentiful. Due to changes in nature, the forest reduced and water sources disappeared. Where we used to grow rice we had to change to grow maize. Due to the drought, we harvested almost nothing, which made life difficult.
One day an opportunity appeared. Dinosaur fossils were found in the area and the government decided to build a dinosaur park. To build the park they needed water. The government decided to bring water from a reservoir east of the township through a thick pipe. All of the people in our village requested that the government allow us to access some of the water from this pipe. With the support of the township, the government agreed to give us access to the water supply and with this we solved some of the drought problems.
The existence of humans relies on water. We should remind all human beings that it is our duty to protect nature and to cherish every drop of water.
