We wanted to change things, take matters in our own hands and start cleaning the streets ourselves. But when the other neighbours saw us doing this, they would say things like: What are you doing? You should know better! Are you the government now?
This is a big problem in our society because people don’t have a sense of conscience regarding the environment or their community. I believe that to change things around you, you have to change yourself first.
I know the change will come in our country, but it will take time. We are a young nation with a new democracy. Now we can discuss all these problems and bring them to the table. Before, under the military regime, this wasn't possible. In Ghana, we now have freedom of speech, but next we have to learn how to use it.
