A Community Police Officer grades neighbourhoods on their community policing
In another community, the Community Police Officer developed a rota for the community to hang out lights during the night to deter crime. He also devised a grading system for the various blocks making up his kebele and assigns each block a grade each month, based on the levels of crime in the neighbourhood and the extent of community participation in community policing activities. The Community Police Officer pictured holds a sign for ‘Block 8’, which received a grade of 3. The sign to the left sets out the criteria for each grade.
