All eyes on me

The cold, damp mood on an overcast day in Hong Kong forced me to explore new heights. I bumbled through my camera bag for the essentials: My trusty 1.2 wide angle lens, lens hood, cigarettes, scarf, and an apple to eat on the way. And of course the camera.

I walked into this mansion as an elderly woman was just leaving. The door was heavy and she was surprised to notice me helping to open the door; for her fragile arms had seen better days.

I reached the rooftop and was met with a chilly gust of wind, just as I took my ceremonial deep breath of the dull January air. The CCTV was not in operation, unless its purpose was simply to discourage would-be vandals from causing mischief. I saw the symmetrical nature of the buildings behind it, and for a moment put myself in the shoes of the workers who built the structure years ago. I wonder how they felt after work, where they went home to, what jokes they made with their coworkers and they passed time in hopes of reaching some ambiguous goal. If one forgets those before me, then they will be brushed to the side streams of contemporary history.
