"The Woman in White" 042/365 * 08 03 2009
My favourite book of all is Wilkie Collins' "The Woman in White", widely acknowledged as the first mystery novel and the one work Collins instructed to have carved into his tombstone.
I fell in love with the book as a teenager, my Mother's favourite book being Collins' "The Moonstone", and always come back to it when I really want to lose myself in a book.
"The Woman in White" makes me sad, happy, elated, scared, heartbroken and surprised no matter how many times I read it.
I do truly feel part of its pages every time I open my threadbare second copy, the first losing its pages long ago through too many hours spent lost in its pages.
I used a stock photograph for the open book, from ~GothicBohemianStock on deviant art, but the figure is me and the pages that form my silhouette are scanned from my copy...
No books were harmed in making this photograph...my bookbinder Grandpa would never forgive me!!
For today's The Rogue Players..."Book Impression"
Definitely best viewed large on black
