Splendeuptychia hygina (Butler, 1877) - Hygina Satyr

Infinity's Possibiltiy

Description: Splendeuptychia is a genus of butterflies in the order Lepidoptera, subdivision Bombycina, superfamily Papilionoidea, family Nymphalidae, subfamily Satyrinae, tribe Satyrini and subtribe Euptychiina. The subject portrayed is not found in the book "Borboletas do Brasil (Butterflies of Brazil)" by Haroldo Palo Jr.

It is registered in this document that the genus Splendeuptychia feeds on bamboo but I could find no registers of other hosts; larvae are also mentioned to possibly have a camouflage mechanism in order to hide among bamboo leaves, further mentioning that elongated larvae and pupae are not necessarily needed to hide among them: "http://www.images.peabody.yale.edu/lepsoc/jls/2000s/2002/2002-56(4)286-Freitas.pdf"

Bambusa sp. seem to be a common host among the genus.
