Central Branch Signals
After switching customers in Lindenhurst, RS-40 continues east on the Central Branch for Babylon where they will run around the train for the return trip west to Fresh Pond. A trip to the New York & Atlantic can be a frustrating experience as the traffic can be an absolute nightmare. But it seems to be the last place you can regularly shoot classic EMDs and position lights together in the Northeast. Both engines, NYA 271 and 156, have spent their entire career on Long Island as they were built for the LIRR in the mid 1970s.
