Solar Flare - Aurora at Bláfjöll, Iceland

A big solar flare erupted from the sun last Sunday. The effects of it are being felt on the earth now.

This is however not an image from that event. This is from last November. I went out tonight to try to photograph the Aurora. I had no luck so I am posting an older image.

I also found out that my Canon 5D MKII and Nikon 14-24mm lens are pretty robustly built. It does not seem to mind being slung through a window of a car doing airborn 360° onto rocky terrain. Pretty impressive. My car however does not seem to be built for acrobatics like this which explains why I did not get any Aurora shots tonight.

15.2.2011: Me and my wife are fine. It was only the car that got damaged.
