St Lukas church, München, on the banks of the Isar river

St. Lukas (St. Luke's; in German: Lukaskirche) is a church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and stands in Munich, Germany, on the banks of the Isar river, roughly between the Deutsches Museum Insel and the Maximillianbrücke. The church was designed by Albert Schmidt and was built in 1893-1896. It is a superb example of an attempt to merge both Romanesque architecture (the exterior) and Gothic architecture (on the inside). Luckily, this church remained more or less undamaged during (the Munich bombings of ) the Second World War so that it still can be admired today. Visible as well on the photo is the 'Kabelsteg' pedestrian bridge, connecting both sides of the Isar to the Praterinsel in the middle of the river.
