Clap your hands!
"Clap your hands when I say" I commanded - clap, clap and all the birds that had been sitting on the beach shot into the air, camera swung into action, but the wind was so strong that most of the first ones were blurred. Second attempt sqautting down alongside the car out of the boiling hot wind and blowing sand and I was able to capture one or two shots. The birds were not going to play anymore though, the third attempt and they took absolutely no notice of the clapping and shouting!
It is well known that "I don't do wildlife" and I had forgotten this episode, but having had a wasted journey to the beach this evening decided to look through some of my archives. This was taken on a small Minolta A1 "bridge" camera which is the only one I had with me at the time!
