Blaentillery No.2 Colliery [9]

This is the tippler where trucks were anchored either side and then tipped sideways to discharge their load into a waiting lorry beneath. The motor (or engine) has gone but the gearing remains. I suspect this may have been out of use for a very long while as a conveyor has been built on top of the railway lines in one part and the conveyor discharges direct to another chute for loading lorries.

Abandoned high on the mountainside overlooking Blaenavon this drift mine was in use until a few years ago. A lot of the surface railway remains in situ but all the wagons have had their wheels removed. This colliery was the one used in the BBC TV series "The Coal House" televised a few years ago.
