Frangipani Caterpillar
A large caterpillar (some 4-5" long, about the size of my middle finger) makes its way across the crushed limestone road-nee-trail.
After some research I believe this is possibly the caterpillar of a Hawk Moth (Pseudosphinx tetrio), aka Frangipani Caterpillar. See this reference and a great writeup on Wikipedia.
