Vijaystambh, Chittorgarh
The Vijaya Stambha is an imposing victory monument located within Chittor Fort in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, India. The tower was constructed by the Mewar king, Rana Kumbha, in 1448 to commemorate his victory over the combined armies of Malwa and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji.
It's architect of this imposing 37.19m monument was Sutradhar Jaita.
Climbing to the top floor was a challenge. Every alternate floor if through the center of the tower. So first floor is all fine with lights coming from zharokhas on the sides and then there's a dead end...u need to step in the central part of it to climb steep stairs plunged in complete darkness...with no support whatsoever...again come out in the next floor with steps illuminated by outside daylight....finally when u reach top....a sigh of relief...but the journey down is ...and in all this u are supposed to give way to others who are going the opposite way๐๐...quite an adventure
