hope for our future ....
Seems to me the arc of the Universe is going way in the wrong direction .... I'm an aging hippie ... and I just assumed there'd be some harmony and peace and justice in the world by now ....I was so grateful to have had my coming of age in the NYC of the late 1960's .... with Bob Dylan and Jackson Browne and Louis Armstrong playing the soundtrack to my life .... and with peace and love in the air and as the theme of our generation ....
Well ..... these days it's pretty easy to be disillusioned and frustrated .... I remember like it was a minute ago all the dreams I had back then .... well .... I've kinda lost that hope thru the years ... and especially this past year everything seems to be in more disarray and off course than I could have ever imaged ....the Universe seems to have lost it's way too .... of course there's suffering with natural disasters .... but there's also a marked spike with man made divisions and hurt and distrust and disunity that I see all around ..... and then .... I'll come across a kid like this .... Joyner ..... and I'll look at his 12 year old face .... and my camera will borrow it if he lets me .... and in all the faces that I'm gifted to photograph I see clearly again the glimpse of hope I once had for the future .... It hasn't gone away ..... and I hope and pray we can all look at the beautiful mosaic of who we are ....celebrate that .... focus on that ... especially see it in the faces of children ..... and hopefully we can remember again the promise of peace and harmony and unity that alot of us had fixed in our younger hearts and dreams .... maybe if enough of us can do just that .... we can set the Universe back on it's right course .
