What is in a Name?

A 70' waterfall located in Eastern Kentucky. Known by a few names, one of which makes the falls seem more spectacular by knowing the history of it.

A unique waterfall for Kentucky. A plunge falls of significant height with a splash pool for starters, instead of dumping onto rocks. Beyond that, the splash pool is almost 20' deep! An old summertime hangout forgotten, even by locals, for over 20 years.

I had the pleasure of venturing here with a new friend, whom found out about this from an older gentleman whom had played here as a child. What amazes me is that the locals use to actually climb down the steep break in the cliff line to bask in the glory, at the base of the falls. Sections are essentially a vertical root grabbing venture to get out of the gorge.

The colors amaze me of this falls. When you first approach you can not see the falls until you get around a massive boulder while creek hiking. It makes for a sudden and surprising first impression and view of the falls. A place to behold and protect.
