A house needs a grandma in it.

Abandoned farmhouse somewhere in Virginia. I felt a bit sad, depressed and angry while photographing this place. I could tell that the elderly woman that lived here was proud of her family and what she had. Even though there was plenty of dust and animal scat about (due to the windows being shattered and the doors busted in), the furnishings were still beautifully appointed and in relatively good shape. It was also apparent to me that she loved her grandchildren because there were plenty of photos still hanging on the walls and lying scattered about on the floor. At this I got somewhat emotional. Even though this place was abandoned, I felt like I was invading, like I was one of the low life's that got in here and ransacked the place looking for stuff to steal. But I had to remind myself that I was there to show (through photography) my respect for this place. That this place WAS special at one time and WAS loved. I guess that this home got to me because it reflects my own (our own) mortality. That nothing lasts forever.
