When the bridge of Ely was brought down by the passage of a class 60, NEXA before resorting to a bus replacement used a class 153 no.153306 on shuttles between Ely and Peterborough. Due to the amount of turn around time the train had in the platform the unit would come onto the sidings for a few minutes to free up the busy platforms 4/5.
