Band I/III Soon to Fall
The long dipole is tuned to ch-1, 45 Mc/s. The Band III is directional and consequently has gain while the Band I dipole is not. This was useful where the transmitters are in different directions but this situation only lasted a few months in London. The Croydon Transmitter on Band III is very close to Crystal Palace which was on Band I, replacing Alexandra Palace on Band I. UHF services also came from Crystal Palace so the array should be pointing in the same direction as the Band IV Yagi.
