THE OLYMPUS CAMERAS COLLECTOR
Olympus PEN EES-2 half-frame camera boxed-7408
This camera is in mint condition, it seems that it was never used.
All the accessories are the original mentioned in the instructions book.
In 1968 appeared the
Olympus PEN EES-2
The camera offered automatic exposure control.
The selenium cell of the light meter was placed around the lens.
On the focus ring the distance was indicated by four symbols which had to be clicked into place..
The lens was a D. Zuiko 1:2,8 f = 30 mm.
The Pen EES-2 uses the same lens as the EES, but the shutter speeds are 1/40″ and 1/200″. The shutter speeds work exactly the same way as with the EES. The EES-2 also has a maximum film speed setting of 400 ASA. The EES-2 was the basis for the legendary Olympus Trip 35. The aperture, the shutter speeds, the film speed range, the way the shutter speeds are selected, the way the automatic aperture works are all identical. The only difference between the Pen EES-2 and the Trip 35 is that the Trip 35 is a full-frame camera and the EES-2 is a half-frame camera. The Trip 35 has a 40mm lens and the 30mm lens on the EES-2 is the equivalent of a 42mm lens on a full-frame camera, so it's just a bit narrower. Interestingly, both the Trip 35 and the EES-2 can use the uncommon 43.5mm filters.
