Doing the impossible
For the 7th episode and the semi-finals we were tasked with interpreting a Swedish song. We were pretty lucky with the song I think and we had a lot of freedom in what to build. The song was about reaching for the sky and never giving up no matter what anyone else says. When the camera was of the production also told all the teams to build larger for this challenge. Therefore we decided that a mountain would be pretty good and that the image of two people rowing up a waterfall against the stream would be striking, kind of funny, and a good fit for the song. Of course we added power functions and tried some interesting techniques. We built the mountain as a tall skeletal structure first and then we covered it in a rock "quilt" to make the surface be more natural and less "typical lego mountain." While not perfect I'm pretty happy with the end result and I might try something similar next time I want to build some terrain. I have a few projects in mind...
