Fernbank Science Center's exhibit "Geckos: Tails to Toepads" included Geckos from around the world. This Giant Day Gecko, (Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis), is large and stout, reaching 11 inches or more, originating from North and NW Madagascar and islands nearby. The majority of their diet in the wild is insects and other small invertabrates; they inhabit trees, bushes and human dwellings, with a need for plentiful basking locations.
