Hair. It's funny how important hair is to us, what a political barometer it can be.
My hair has always been a big part of my identity. I'm half Hawai'ian, so long hair is almost expected of me. I like it long, it's easy to take care of - you'd be surprised at how low maintenance my hair really is.
If I want to be noticed, I 'unleash the beast' and let it down.
If I want to be invisible - and at my age, stature and ethnicity, without a defining characteristic like very long hair, I am VERY invisible - I just twist it up into a bun.
People tell me what to do with it: "Never cut your hair! It's so beautiful!"
People tell me "I used to have my hair that long." No you didn't. Maybe to your waist, but not this long I'll bet.
And I have to laugh when people ask me how long I've been growing it. Since before I was born, technically, but I know they mean to ask how much time did it take to get to that length...
Usually, I trim my hair twice a year, once in the summer, once in the winter. But I only trusted my boyfriend to do it and when he broke up with me last year, I haven't had it trimmed since.
And don't get me started on that Locks for Love business. I have a ponytail as long and as thick as the one on my head. That's from cleaning the hair from my brush every day and untangling it and adding it bit by bit to a new ponytail. Only takes about a year and I get to keep my length.
The length pictured is approximately 8 years' worth. It goes down to the backs of my knees when I stand up straight.

This is from the shots I took yesterday, so I hope this counts towards my 365 Days Project contribution. I doubt I'll be able to take a photo before midnight.
For the 365 Days Project. Day 19.
