7-24-08 Trophy Flint, Orange Peel Patina

The flattened surface with the orange peel texture is the side on which the little flint rested for who knows how long?

Flints develop a patina with age. I assume that it is limestone, and what makes it happen is for someone else to explain. I'm only taking photos to study the varying faces of the flint and the many textures and variations that can exist on such a tiny object.
