USS RODNEY M DAVIS (FFG 60) was an U.S. Navy OLIVER HAZARD PERRY-class guided missile frigate (FFG), the second-to-last in the class, named for U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Rodney M. Davis USMC (1942–1967), who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism in the Vietnam War.
The ship was laid down on 8 February 1985 by the Todd Pacific Shipyards, Los Angeles Division, San Pedro, California, launched January 11th, 1986, and commissioned on May 9th, 1987. She was decommissioned in January, 2015 at Naval Station Everett WA.
At the time of these pictures, the ship was deployed from her homeport of Yokosuka, Japan, to the Arabian Gulf, where she operated in support of United Nations enforcement of the embargo against Iraq. RMD returned to Japan for operations in the Western Pacific in July, 1996.
