Chochran Memorial United Methodist Church_A7R4972 1

At the turn of the last century a Lady named Sarah B Cochran amassed a great deal of wealth selling coke to the steel mills in Pittsburgh. She was, in a large part, responsible for the village of Dawson being a spot on the map. One of her greatest contributions to the town is this church. I've only been inside twice when my wife was singing in a coral group that held concerts in various venues in the area. The floor of the sanctuary is decorated in ceramic tile. On each tile is a depiction of different versions of the Christian cross. I got a bit of a start when I noticed one of the crosses is a swastika. Since the church was built between 1922 and 1927 that symbol hadn't yet been completely corrupted by the evil that was to come in the 1930's. For more info go to this wiki.
