THREE'S A COMPANY -- The Same Three Girls....Here and There

The above raw scans show Enami's rough stereoviews as they appear without color.

The customer who bought these at Enami's studio on Benten Street in Yokohama obviously didn't want to pay for the more expensive HAND-COLORED versions, which in today's money would have cost him about $80 each !

However, there were some very rich tourists back then who did dish out the dough, and here is what they brought back from Japan :

The hand-coloring took hours to accomplish, and the artists used brushes as fine as a single hair.

WHAT ABOUT THE BOTTOM VIEW ?

Yup, some rich dude paid Enami to have that one colored, too :

Sorry, the only version I've found of the middle image is the B/W view posted above.

Cheers !

PHOTO NOTE : Although I usually do restoration and clean-up work on my scans prior to posting (in order to make "ready to go" illustrations for Bloggers, Webmasters, and other creatives users), these scans are going up "as is" straight from the scanner.

These "slavish copies" are immediately PUBLIC DOMAIN for your own "clean-up" fun and experimental use.

The reason I am posting is to tie them in to other previously posted images --- mainly to expand the context of the MAIKO and GEISHA seen in other pictures I will be linking to.
