IN THE LIGHT AND SHADOWS OF A WOODED HILLSIDE GROVE -- Three Geisha and a Little Sister Explore the Grounds Around HIKONE PARK Near Old KYOTO, JAPAN

A tough exposure situation, but pulled off quite well. Enami captured the darkened mood of this forest above the large, lower pond and its surrounding areas seen my other old views of Hikone Park and Gardens.

Over 100 years old, the hand-applied colors remains natural, and are a credit to the studio artists who also had to painstakingly color each half to match up in the stereoscope. Good Job !

".....Genkyu-en Garden (玄宮園). Hikone's number two attraction is the garden at the foot of the castle. The park contains a sprawling villa built in the Chinese Tang Dynasty style in 1677 for Naooki Ii, the fourth lord of Hikone. The best thing to do here is to pause at the teahouse for a cup of matcha (ceremonial green tea), a Japanese sweet and some quiet contemplation for ¥500...."
