Okinawa Soba (Rob)
TWO GEISHA by JULIAN COCHRANE
For those who can parallel "free-view" 3-D images right on the screen, this is a nice one.
It's well over 100 years old.
And just minutes before Cochrane took the above maple-leaf-decorated image, he took this less-embellished but much "deeper" 3-D shot from the side : www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2476781776/

Boston-based USA photographer Julian Cochrane traveled the world for the KEYSTONE VIEW COMPANY of Pennsylvania.
His first visited Japan in 1904 on the way to photographing the RUSSO-JAPAN WAR in 1904. While waiting for passage to China, and upon return from the theater of war, he wound up photographing many domestic scenes in Japan.

His hundreds of negatives were edited by Keystone into many boxed sets, and to this day, the most collectable (available) stereoview of Japan --- from flea-markets to eBay --- is THIS VIEW from Cochrane's camera : www.flickr.com/photos/24443965@N08/2476862596/
A SAMPLING of more Cochrane images : www.flickr.com/search/?w=24443965@N08&q=Julian%20Coch...
Almost all of Cochrane's original 3-D negatives have survived intact to this very day.
