=============== DISCOGRAPHY =================
[_____ the history of the diverse records is difficult to scrutinize ____]
If you are really interested in these issues, speculation is necessary to figure out who did sing or when the singing took place. The history of the song-versions is everywhere badly documented (not only @youtube, not only @Aurora, not only @Folkways). There has never been a historic interest in these titles, but the reason for publication and re-publication and re-re-publication and per omnia saecula saeculorum will always be to feed on and entertain the current mainstream nationalisms.

► Introductory speech by Pete Seeger to the song Jarama Valley:
I was in the US-Army, in 1944, waiting to go overseas, and I had a weekend pass, and went up to New York, and found that Moses Asch who later on ran Folkways records was willing to record these songs of the Abraham Lincoln Brigade. - And on Sunday we recorded six songs, some in English, some in our fraction Spanish I didn’t know how to speak or sing the language but I guess a lot of our brigade members didn’t know very well either. – When I went back to Spain, in 1971, I was not allowed to sing these songs by the Franco government, however in 1978 Franco was dead and I came back and I sang for huge audiences, and of course I sang all these songs. – I said how come you sing these songs in the same versions that I sing, and they said, oh we learned them of your record, we made tapes of them, and brought them across the border and played them for each other, of course if we played them very loud we might have gotten arrested, so ||:that little record kept alive in Spain some of these songs:||
(Peter Seeger on Jarama Valley. From the album: Spain in My Heart - Songs of the Spanish Civil War.)
► Very nice sample of folk-music from the Kennedy era. It is the version sung by Tom Glazer in 1961.
