Android Dev
The HOT Team is doing some experimentation with Android phones for collecting data for OpenStreetMap. We met up with a local software developer, and this is his gaming rig. He's into Call of Duty.
In his day job he's gone from normal software development into producing mobile apps for documenting the tens of thousands of homeless Haitians.
I'm in Haiti volunteering with the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, training locals how to create maps with OpenStreetMap. If you aren't familiar with it, it's a wikipedia-style map of the world where anyone can edit it. It was heavily used immediately after the earthquake as a way to adapt the map to changing conditions, and is being used by several groups during the reconstruction.
