Quick Watercolor Koi
A loose and crude copy of a koi fromChinese Painting Techniques for Exquisite Watercolors by Lian Quan Zhen, in triplicate. (Actually, I made four and kept one for myself; the other three got mailed away in a swap.)
I made all four in an hour or two, using a Niji Waterbrush and my Altoids watercolor travel tin, while watching television (sort of). Paper is one of the lightweight Strathmore watercolor papers.
It's a little tricky to get a nice thin wash with the waterbrush, but all in all, I'm pleased with the result/effort ratio.
