" Back in 2007 I wrote a three-part poem on my connection with our Earth after I moved to California in 2006. I've linked photographs with each part. Now that I have photographs for all three parts, I've decided to bring all the parts together under this picture "..

Samantha says : I am selecting this image because I am a dedicated bird-watcher ...and I can fully appreciate the wonderful capture of the iridescent red feathers ...as well as the artistic processing by Bobbi to create a very lovely image.
Bobbi wrote : ...What an unexpected and pleasant surprise, my Flickr friends! Today I was standing on my balcony watching the hummingbirds which were flocking to my three feeders. I had my camera for other reasons when it occurred to me to snap a few pictures of the hummingbirds. I took nine, not really expecting any success with my P&S Canon PowerShot G12. Now this is a great little camera which I love, but hummingbird pictures? LOL!
What a surprise when I downloaded the pictures! This was the second one. The SOOC version, which was hand-held, is in the comments below. The little guy was perched on the feeder, not hovering. The camera caught him with his head up facing towards me into light which caught his iridescent red feathers! I was so amazed, touched, delighted that I wanted to share the image of this precious little fellow with you right away!

Slid into abstraction!
Can reading distract you from the Olympics, my Flickr friends? More pictures in the comments...
Which picture, if any, do you like the best? Which picture best illustrates "bookstract" for you?

Yes ...(contrary to popular belief) ..it sometimes does rain in Southern California ! And Bobbi has captured such a beautiful 'rainy day abstract ' here . Love the feeling of sweet, pure , cleansing raindrops pattering on a window ....with pretty , fresh green bokeh of May . A fine, artistic touch here ....very well done !
