Malediction
The Malediction is an old L-45 Grapnel, manufactured by Slayn & Korpil, belonging to smuggler Corana Berik. It has been in her possession since she inherited it from her father several years ago.
It has capacity to house a pilot, a copilot and two passengers. The fuselage and main engine area is accessible from the crew section via a long service tunnel that also gives access to the multiple nooks and crannies where goods can be stored or hidden. The L-45 Grapnel model is designed to be fast and agile in both atmospheric and space environments. What it gains in agility from its relatively small size, it also loses in cargo capacity. It's still perfect for small and high risk cargo though, and for taking passengers who wishes to keep their whereabouts unknown from authorities.

I have been thinking about building this ship since June 2021. That's the date I have for the sketch anyways. Ever since I built Rasmus Poulsen and EC Henry is very inspiring and made me start sketching on some ideas. The final design is inspired by the B-Wing and the Outrider, two of my favourite Star Wars ships. I tried to borrow details from both of them, and also a bit from the Millennium Falcon.
The design process has been long and challenging, but when Space Jam 2023 came along it gave me the push I needed to finish it. When I started building in December 2023, I had some digital test builds and the technic core almost completed. The most challenging phase was attaching the tapered parts of the fuselage to the core. I ended up using technic axles that attach to the front and the back to lock them in place. Building the crew section was also a hassle. I made several iterations before I was able to lock everything in place with brackets and rails made from plates and tiles. The SHIP is 118 studs wide and contains several thousand parts. You can read more about the design process at my blog.
This is my entry for Space Jam 2023, the category called "FOUR"; "Build a spaceship that can fit at least 4 seated minifigures into it comfortably". The cockpit has room for two minifigures and there is also a crew quarters where at least 2 more minifigures can fit.
The process of designing a ship from sketch, to the final Lego MOC, is both incredibly frustrating and rewarding. I'm really pleased with the result, and I hope you like it as well!
