Paper Wasp Nest

Managing yellowjackets and paper wasps starts with early detection and rapid response. Walking the perimeter of your house or a building you manage starting in June can help you to identify the beginnings of a stinging insect nest. These can be knocked down with a strong stream of water or a long pole. Ideally this work should be completed at night when all colony members are on the nest. Wear thick, loose clothing and gloves to prevent stings. Stomp the nest when it hits the ground to kill colony members.
