A heavy wave of fog settled on Llyn Padarn a couple hours after sunset, isolating the tree from its surroundings. Even though it was well into night, the tree and lake were surprisingly well lit by the soft glow of the village lights.

 

I tried several compositions, but the simple minimalism of the reflected tree on the barely visible horizon was the most striking and in keeping with its namesake, “The Lone Tree.”
