Herbie The Love Bug
Elons got nothing on Herbie, the FIRST self driving car!
As a kid of the 60s I was definitely a fan of Herbie the Love Bug. VW bugs were a common sight on the road (who remembers playing Slug Bug with your siblings)? and the idea that a car could have a conscience just wasn't that far of a stretch for my mind. What happened to that simple innocence, where did it go because I really want it back!
This is a reach back in the archives for me, all the way back to Disneyworld and 2010 B.C. (Before Covid). In one of the Disneyworld parks (Hollywood Studios maybe?) they had a live action stunt show and Herbie was the star.
This was shot with my Olympus E-500 which I never took off of AUTO mode, too afraid of screwing things up. If I only knew then what I know now!

What it doesn't really touch on is just how hard you hit your sibling when you're the one who called out Slug Bug! It also doesn't talk about your parents in the front seat who would say "You kids knock it off" while your brother/sister was crying from the aforementioned slug.
