DC's Super-Man
Kenan Kong grew up in Shanghai. His favorite pastime? Bullying Leo Lixin, the heir to the airline that Kenan blames for his mother's untimely death. But, when Leo was kidnapped by a supervillain, Kenan stepped in to save him, catching the eye of China's mysterious Ministry of Self-Reliance. They offered Kenan all the powers of Superman, but failed to warn him of the danger the experiment carried with it. However, it went off without a hitch, and Kenan became the new Super-Man of China!
I made Kenan mostly out of celebration of Chinese New Year, despite the fact that the character kind of annoys me on a level. The idea of China making their own super-team to stay on the level with America? Genius. Every member of the team literally being knock-offs of their counterparts, down to sharing a name and analogous supporting cast? ...ick. Every one of these characters deserves their own identity outside of stolen logos in octagons instead of circles, and we as an audience deserve it, too - if for no other reason than to keep conversations clear.
(And that's also why I think pre-Flashpoint Wally West needs a new identity besides The Flash - having two Wally Wests and two Flashes is just a nightmare)
