Shot #4000 - Back to where it all started
On a lark yesterday, I took a different route into Hoopeston to visit my parents. As I approached the crossing at Thompson Avenue, I spotted the L375 local getting ready to runaround their train and head back to Brewer Yard in Danville. I had just enough time to drive south into downtown and grab this photo of the crew pulling the train out of the lead track.
Back in 1981 this train, then known as the Watseka Local, at this location was my gateway into the railfanning hobby. In the summers of 1981 and 1982, I got so many cab rides from the friendly L&N crew that I lost count. Surreal how I was able to stumble into this train after driving 5 plus hours from Springfield via Delphi, Indiana.
