75 years ago - at the 8th May 1945 - the World War II ended in Europe with the surrender of Nazi Germany and the victory of the Allied Forces. My father has been sixteen years those days. He received the conscription order to the German Army - the Reichswehr - shortly before the end of war. He decided to ignore it and hid himself until the American Army arrived to his village left of the river Rhine in the west of Germany. He passed away ten years ago after a long and - all in all - happy life.
Peter Eisenmanns field of stelae reminds to the up to six million Jewish victims of racist Nazi ideology. The monument is located in the center of Berlin close to the government district.
