colourful vista
Whirlow Brook Park 190624 - Whirlow Brook Park is a lovely park on the outskirts of the city. The land originally belonged to the Duke of Devonshire and was later bought by Percy Fawcett - Chief Engineer at Firths steelworks. A house was built on the land in 1913.
Sheffield Council acquired the land in 1946 and it became a public park. I worked in the house for some years when it was a software training centre. It's now a wedding venue.
The gardens were maintained by U3A and now The Friends of Whirlow Brook Park.
There is a small cafe on-site and lots of paths to explore - a lovely peaceful place to spend time
