Southend Transport, Essex: AEC Routemaster/ Park Royal RMA (fiction)

The forward-entrance RMA Routemasters did not have the same passenger or operator appeal as the standard rear-entrance RMs in the post-deregulation days of the 1980s. Verwood Transport operated a pair (later joined or replaced by a third) on its stage carriage service between Bournemouth and its home town; Stagecoach had a couple for contract work; and Clydeside Scottish acquired one for private hire and special duties, including promotional work. This fictional example may have mirrored the Clydeside rationale or perhaps it was acquired for spares but found to be too good to break? It has been fitted with a full set of RM blinds for occasional service work (03-Jul-16).
