An unusual situation was in progress. No. 220032, at platform 11 on the right, had worked 1S53, the 13:27 Plymouth to Edinburgh service from Plymouth to Bristol Temple Meads. Passengers who had arrived on that train and wished to travel further north were required to alight, cross the platform, and board Nos. 220021 & 220015 at platform 9 (on the left), which then worked 1S53 from Bristol Temple Meads to Edinburgh.
