March Morning Light
The up-and-down nature of this country lane is caused by ironstone quarrying early in the 20th century - the lane originally ran a few hundred yards to the south, but was diverted through the old workings, and then the original route was quarried too.
Guess they weren't that worried about a few undulations, as it must have been little used by motorised traffic at the time. Lucky for me, as it creates an interesting "stepped" impression in this shot, accentuated by using a medium telephoto lens.
Some lovely soft, misty light helped create a very attractive feel to the final finish, contrasting nicely with the dark, bare branches of the tress and hedgerows.
I have walked this way many times, and this is how I like to remember my time here - filled with tranquility and beauty. In so many ways it is / was, but real life is seldom quite as good as one single image can portray - that's one of the special things about what we can do with our images - capture the impression and "feel" of some of the best things in life, and recall them at any time through a simple image.
