Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati

Gandhi selected in 1917 a place on the bank of the river Sabarmati for his activities. In 1930 he started the march to Dandy to break the British salt law. He declared that he will not return to the ashram before the independence of the country. India was declared independent in 1947. Gandhi was assassinated in 1948 and never returned to Sabarmati Ashram.
