During the 2010 Uitmarkt the Netherlands Media Art Institute presented the NIMk//media_dome. In the dome on the Museumplein we showed a work by Rafael Rozendaal, 'Aesthetic Echo', and 'Matter in Motion' by Semiconductor. The dome is also the starting point for the virtual game 'Blokkendoos Amsterdam: The sky is not the limit' an Augmented reality project by Sander Veenhof.
With these works we declare the 'virtual city' the theme of our presentation in the 'real city': come around our place, and make a hypnotic trip through virtual landscapes and cities; come, take a look, and see how Milan is structured and restructured as a Sci-fi city in pieces; come and work with other Uitmarkt visitors on the highest virtual tower in Amsterdam, without getting your hands dirty! Don't forget to bring your smartphone!
The dome was also the starting point of STEIM. They have been working on a new set of instruments commissioned by the region of Limburg and in collaboration with instrument builder Piet Jan Blauw. They will be premiering the first implementation of these instruments at Amsterdam's Uitmarkt this weekend.
