When visiting my mother I often take orchids from her greenhouse to photograph, as I did on this day. After I was done photographing some of her orchids and other flowers that day... we eat dinner and when for a swim in her pool. Before leaving that night I used the bathroom and found this orchids sitting on her vanity... so I ran to get my camera and made two exposures before going out the door.
I did nothing in the processing to change the color of the orchid... in the sunlight it looks slightly lighter in color. This image however was taken with the orchid setting on my mother’s vanity mirror. The lights around the mirror is the only light source for my photo... and I used a round 12 “Sunglow Reflector” to reflect the light coming from behind, the sides and from above onto the front of the flowers. I used my camera’s spot metering for my exposure... this image was under exposed 1/2 stop.
