Suicide Prevention: 5 tips to help

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. How can you make a difference in suicide prevention? Take action to help someone you think may be experiencing emotional pain. You can:

Ask if they are thinking about suicide.

Keep them safe by reducing access to lethal items or places.

Be there to listen carefully and acknowledge their feelings.

Connect them to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline number (1-800-273-8255) and ,

Stay in touch with them.
