Konik Polski ('Konik' - 'small horse' in Polish) an ancient semi-feral breed originally from the Bilgoray region of Southeast Poland. The breed type is generally about 130-140cm (12-13 hands) weighing 380kg and is mouse-dun coloured, although black and sorrel can occasionally occur. The Konik is classified as a rare breed and small residual herds are found in Poland, the Baltic States, Eastern Germany, The Netherlands and a herd has been established on Wicken Fen in Cambridgeshire and here on Crome's Broad, Norfolk.
