Orange-fronted Parakeet (Eupsittula canicularis)

Best viewed large.

I spent the first week of December in Ixtapa, Mexico. My birding guide was William Mertz. This parakeet was found at Troncones.

It is also known as the orange-fronted conure and the half-moon conure, and is a medium-sized parrot that is resident from western Mexico to Costa Rica.

Eupsittula is a genus of five species of South and Central American parakeets in the tribe Arini. Until 2013, all the species were believed to belong to the genus Aratinga.

Some of the Eupsittula species are kept in aviculture or as companion parrots, where they are commonly known as conures.
