Edward James Harland (1831-1895)

In the mid 1800's Edward James Harland (1831-1895) bought a small shipyard on Queen's Island in Belfast, which would later become the Harland & Wolff Shipyard. That same shipyard would become the largest in the world, and would construct the Titanic.

Harland was Mayor of Belfast for 1885 and 1886, and the statue resides in the grounds of Belfast City Hall.
